Frank Stella is an American artist born in Massachusetts in 1936. I began looking at Frank Stella's Black Series, particularly his use of lines. The first thing that strikes me about the lines is how you can see that they have been done without the use of a ruler, as you can see that there are slight imperfections. It is thought that Stella chose to do this as a nod to the Abstract Expressionism which was prominent at the time.
